Description
To begin with, the trail leads to the plateau between the Enz and Nagold Valleys. It goes past the high moors of the Kaltenbronn to Freudenstadt and continues over the Hochfirst (mountain with a look-out tower near Titisee-Neustadt) and on to Lake Schluchsee via Schiltach, the Fohrenbühl high plain and St. Georgen.

In the southern Black Forest, the Mittelweg leads through the valleys of the Schwarza and the Schlücht (western route) or through the Mettma valley (eastern route) and ends at Waldshut am Hochrhein.
