Description

Bad Säckingen, with its romantic Old Town, is situated on the High Rhine between the southern Black Forest (Hotzenwald region) and Switzerland. The town is widely known for the 1854 epic poem *The Trumpeter of Säckingen* by Joseph Victor von Scheffel; consequently, Bad Säckingen is also known as the "Trumpeter City."

Points of interest include the historic Old Town—featuring the Baroque St. Fridolin's Minster and Schönau Castle—and the covered wooden bridge spanning the Rhine, which, at over 200 meters in length, is the longest of its kind in Europe.
