Schonach is a hub for cross-country skiing and Nordic disciplines, particularly in winter; professional athletes compete here every January in the Schwarzwaldpokal FIS Nordic Combined World Cup. In summer, extensive hiking trails wind through the quintessential Black Forest landscape.
