Information in brief

Description

St. Blasien is located in the valley of the Alb at the foot of the Feldberg mountain. A Benedictine monastery was mentioned in present-day St. Blasien for the first time in the 9th century. A new abbey church was built in the Early Classic style after a fire in 1768. With a diameter of 46 metres and a height of 63 metres, the dome is the third largest in Europe.

The city and its two districts of Albtal and Menzenschwand have a breathtaking natural landscape and offer a wide range of cultural, sporting and artistic activities.
