Description
With a total length of 1,250 meters—including the ramp inside the tower—the path winds through the canopy of beech, fir, and spruce trees in the forest on the Sommerberg in Bad Wildbad. In addition to fascinating views of the treetops, various information and activity stations offer interesting facts about local flora and fauna, as well as challenges to test your dexterity.
The highlight is the 40-meter-high observation tower at the end of the treetop walk. As you ascend the ramp, your view rises above the forest, culminating in a magnificent panoramic vista of the Northern Black Forest woodlands at the top. The entire path, including the tower, is fully accessible. Since the spring of 2015, a 55-meter-long "adventure tunnel slide" has provided a fun way to get back down from the tower (please note that the slide remains closed during rain).
Tip: Travel via the S6 light rail to the "Uhlandplatz/Sommerbergbahn" stop or drive to the "Stadtmitte/Sommerbergbahn" parking garage. From there, take the Sommerbergbahn (funicular railway) up to the summit station. It is just a short walk of a few hundred meters from there to the treetop walk. A combined ticket covering both the funicular and the treetop walk is available.
