Description
The Gugel rises approximately 200 meters above the surrounding Hotzenwald plateau. The current observation tower was inaugurated in 1974 and stands about 30 meters taller than the summit; the viewing platform is located 16 meters above the ground. The tower offers a panoramic view across large parts of the Hotzenwald, as well as a magnificent view of the Alps in clear weather.
The tower is a popular destination for hikers; the "Gugelstüble," located right next to the tower, offers them refreshments and light snacks. The tower is accessible year-round. It is possible to drive to within 200 meters of the tower.
